2- Identify Negative Self-Talk Habits
If you don’t want to make manifesting easy with subliminal affirmations and prefer to go the long, hard route instead, first you’ll need to identify your negative self-talk habits.
This may take about a week, but before you start using positive affirmations, you’ll want to be more mindful about when and how you’re using negative self-talk.
In fact, the most effective affirmations will be those that directly target areas that need work.
There’s no better way to figure out what those are than to track everything.
Get a small notebook that you can keep with you to write down the negative self-talk you are using now.
Self-awareness will take you so far on your journey – start in the morning as you get dressed and work your way through the day.
Do this for about a week, and you should have a nice list of negative things you think about yourself.
From there, you can manifest change!
2- Create Positive Affirmations from Negative Self-Talk
After you write down those negative things, organize them into categories so that you can work on each area over time.
For example, if when you are getting ready in the morning, you feel poorly about your looks, you’ll want to tie that to self-esteem.
Then create or seek out positive affirmations that will raise your self-esteem.
“I’m a normal healthy weight, and my skin is clear and beautiful,” is a great place to start.
Even if you have problems or it feels inauthentic when you do this, you’ll likely make better choices during the day, not to ruin your good health and your skin.
And even better – over time, you’ll start to notice all the beautiful things about yourself, which reinforces the positive manifestation of your dreams and goals.
3- Write Your Affirmations Down
Once you create the positive affirmations from your negative self-talk, you should write them down.
One tip that I love and have received great results from is writing affirmations on small slips of paper and placing them in a jar.
It’s called an “affirmations jar,” and it really works!
Commit to doing them all at once if you have the time, or doing one or two a day until your jar is full.
Once it’s full, grab one when you need it for an instant boost in your mood and outlook.
Another idea for using your affirmations is writing them on colorful post-it notes and sticking them where you can see them, like on your bathroom mirror.
This is especially effective if you struggle with negative self-talk surrounding your looks. Or even posting them on your refrigerator if you have issues with food.
4- Set Times For Using Your Affirmations
Keep in mind that it’s a great idea to create a solid habit out of using your affirmations.
A tip that I’ve enjoyed through the years is scheduling them into my day and using them at the exact same time, no matter what.
I literally set the alarm on my iPhone to go off at 8 am every morning, at which time I automatically take a pause and reflect on positive affirmations.
It doesn’t have to be a long process!
Keep that in mind.
You can take a few seconds at any time, anywhere to think something positive about yourself.
You’ll keep your vibration high and attract so much positivity into your life just because of your thoughts.
Now I won’t lie, at first, it’s going to feel a little weird, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time!
Right now, just do it by rote, and eventually, it’ll feel more natural.
5- State Your Affirmations Aloud
Another tip I have for you is to state your affirmations aloud. You’ll give them so much more power!
Of course, if you’re in public or can be heard, you probably don’t want to do this.
But if you’re in private and have the ability to do so, say it loud and say it proud! When The reason this works is that when you state them aloud, you hear them with your ears, and that is a different form of memory than writing them and reading them.
As you listen to it, you’ll begin to believe it over time, as you should.
6- Check Your Progress Periodically
As you practice using positive affirmations to manifest positive change in your life, write in your manifestation journal or planner periodically to state how you’re doing with stopping negative self-talk and using positive affirmations instead.
Also, if you’ve been working on a goal, record your progress.
Record the date you began working with positive affirmations, your state of being, the negative self-talk that you’re working to correct, and any other details that seem relevant.
Check back every week or month to see how you’re progressing.
Once you see solid results, you’ll never turn back!
