Ahhh the glow-up. The process of taking your life from the current state it’s in to a much more elevated version of itself. A time when you let go of old habits, mindsets, and ways of being and instead embrace a new way of thinking and living that brings about more success, joy, and fulfillment.
For some, the glow-up is a physical one. They may lose weight, get in shape, and change their style and overall appearance. For others, it’s an internal transformation that manifests in outer ways. They may switch careers, end toxic relationships, or finally start going after their dreams.
But no matter what form it takes, the glow-up is always a journey of self-discovery, growth, and evolution. It’s when we learn to love and accept ourselves for who we are and start making choices that align with our deepest desires and highest aspirations.
So if you’re ready to manifest a glow-up, here is the 7-step process you need to follow.
1- Decide what a glow-up looks like for you
First, you need to get clear on what a glow-up looks like for you.
If your glow-up is purely physical, pinpoint exactly what areas you want to manifest change in.
Do you want fuller, longer hair?
Clearer, softer, and more supple skin?
Would you like to manifest weight loss? If so, how much weight would you like to release?
Would you dress differently?
If your glow-up is more internal, what areas of your life would you like to improve?
Do you want to feel happier and more joyful?
Do you want to reduce stress and anxiety?
Would you like to be more confident and self-assured?
Do you want to manifest more success or abundance in your life?
No matter what form your glow-up takes, get clear on the exact details so you can start visualizing and manifesting it into reality.
2- Focus on the feelings
Now that you have a clearer idea of what your glow-up would look like, consider what success would feel like for you.
A huge part of manifestation is all about feelings, emotions, and beliefs.
As such, it’s not enough to say that you want to be prettier or slimmer or richer.
You must think about what emotion you want to feel about those things.
The best way to do this is to think about the answers you gave in step one, then add “because”…
So if you want to manifest weight loss, you would say, “I want to release twenty extra pounds because I would feel more confident, sexy, and attractive.”
If you want to change your hair, you would say, “I want longer and fuller hair because it would make me feel more feminine and beautiful.”
If you are manifesting a new job, you might say, “I want a job that aligns with my values, and that feels inspiring to me because it will help me feel more fulfilled in life.”
Once you’ve identified the emotions you want to experience, you’re ready for the next step.
3- Visualize yourself successful
The next step is to spend some time visualizing yourself as successful.
Now, sometimes you can spend a few quick minutes visualizing, and it doesn’t have to be a big deal or production.
But for glow-ups (especially for glam, beauty, and self-love), I highly recommend allowing yourself the space, time, and energy to create a vibe that lets your subconscious mind know that you’re worth it!
The whole thing about glowing up is that you are tapping into your value, your natural inner radiance, and worth, so it’s important to set the tone accordingly.
I recommend you do two things here.
One in-depth self-care ritual
First, do an actual self-love or self-care ritual that includes creating space for setting this intention and visualizing it in great detail.
How you do this doesn’t matter much.
But you do want to make sure that you break your “normal” state.
Take a shower or bath to clear your energy, light a candle or some incense, play ambient music, get your crystals out if you have any, and allow yourself the gift of softness, space, and time to indulge in creating the glow-up you desire.
Even if it’s just a thirty-minute self-care session, it matters so much!
My favorite way to do these types of deeper rituals is as I set new intentions for a fresh week or month.
(I’ve got ritual planning and weekly/monthly intention-setting sheets for you in the free Manifestation Journal, so you should get your copy if you haven’t yet!) 🙂
Regular daily check-ins
After you’ve done one more in-depth self-care ritual session, aim to spend just a few minutes each day (preferably in the morning) reconnecting with your intention for your glow-up.
The #1 way to do this is with mirror work.
Mirror work is the process of looking at yourself in the mirror and repeating positive affirmations to yourself.
I like to do this while looking into my own eyes, but some people feel more comfortable starting by focusing on other parts of their face or body.
(There’s no wrong way to do it!)
The key is that you are willing to show up for yourself each day, look yourself in the eyes, and reaffirm to yourself all of the things that you desire are already true.
It’s so simple, but it’s incredibly powerful!
I wrote a whole blog post about mirror work if you want to check that out for more ideas and inspiration.
4- Take inspired action
Next, it’s time to take action!
This should be exciting and easy if you’ve done all the previous steps with sincerity and consistency.
The key here is to be open to the guidance of the Universe and take action from a place of inspiration rather than force.
This means you will want to check in with yourself regularly (daily is best) to see what feels good, fun, and easy.
You can ask yourself questions like, “What would feel good for me to do today?” or “How can I make this process fun and easy for myself?”
And then, just follow your intuition and go with the flow!
Some people worry that they won’t know what actions to take if they’re not using willpower or force.
But I promise if you’ve been doing the work to connect with your intention and get clear on what you want, the Universe will send you plenty of guidance.
All you need to do is be open to receiving it.
A word of caution: Be careful of over-analyzing things or getting caught up in your head about whether you’re doing things “right.”
This is a recipe for disaster!
The best way to avoid this is to remember that there is no “right” way to do things.
There’s only your way.
And as long as you’re staying true to yourself, you can’t go wrong.
An example of inspired action for your glow-up
Most people want to glow-up physically, so I’ll use that as an example.
Let’s say that you’ve been wanting to get in shape and have more energy.
The key here is to start small and make it easy for yourself.
You might begin by taking a walk around the block once a day or committing to drinking 64 ounces of water each day.
You could also start cooking more meals at home or meal prepping for the week.
The possibilities are endless!
The key is to start with something that feels good and easy for you, and then build on that.
Another example if you want to manifest longer, thicker hair would be to give yourself a scalp massage every night before you go to bed.
Just a little bit of effort (only if it feels right to you) to push you toward your goal will get the ball rolling.
And all you need is a little bit to start because getting started is half the battle.
5- Make incremental upgrades
Now once you’ve started taking inspired action, you want to continue to make tiny, incremental upgrades that build on your previous actions.
This is why I recommend keeping a manifestation journal!
You’re going to set your intention for each week, reflect on how the week went, then set your intention for the following week based on your results.
The thing about tiny upgrades is that they feel so small and manageable but add up to effortless results over time.
So let’s say you want to manifest weight loss…
The first week let’s assume you commit to drinking eight glasses of water a day.
The second week you can add in a 30-minute walk three times a week.
The third week you might want to add in some sort of healthy food restriction like no eating after 7 pm or no processed foods.
You get the idea!
Tiny, incremental upgrades that feel easy but impact over time.
And as you’re continuing your visualizations, doing your mirror work, and seeing progress, it’s like a snowball of success that continues to build, and before you know it, you’ve made it!
6- Reinforce your worthiness
I want to touch on one more thing that’s critical for a successful glow-up and that’s reinforcing your worthiness.
This is something I have struggled with for years, and I see so many people struggling with it as well.
The thing is, we live in a society that tells us we’re not enough.
That we need to be thinner, prettier, smarter, funnier, richer…
The list goes on and on.
But the truth is that you are enough. Just as you are.
You don’t need to change a single thing about yourself to be worthy of love, success, or happiness.
It’s kind of weird because you want to manifest change so that you can feel better, but unless you love and accept yourself as you are, you’re going to have a really hard time getting there.
So you have to remind yourself that although you seek improvement, you love and accept yourself fully and completely right now.
It’s a process, and you’re worthy of the journey.
7- Live “as if” it has already happened
Last but not least, one of the most important things you can do to manifest a glow-up is to live “as if” it has already happened.
What I mean by this is that you need to start acting, thinking, and speaking as if you are already the person you want to be.
For example, if you want to be more confident, start acting more confident.
If you want to be in better shape, start living like you’re already in better shape.
It might feel silly at first, but this is such an important part of manifesting because it tells the Universe that you’re serious about making a change.
And when you do this consistently, it’s only a matter of time before you start seeing results.
One of the best things that I’ve done in the past to help with this step is to make a habit of asking myself what would I do if I was already successful.
So I did manifest over 50-lbs weight loss and at times it was a little hard (because I did still have to do the work to get there.)
But some of the time when I felt like giving up or too tired or was faced with a challenge, I would close my eyes, take a deep breath, and ask “what would I choose if I was already at my goal weight and wanted to maintain it?”
Instantly it kind of snaps you out of that frame of mind.
You could almost go back to the visualization you had of that successful person who has already achieved their glow-up.
And you step in their shoes.
And you live, move, walk, talk and behave like them.
From that place, making the right choices that move you closer and closer to your dreams becomes SO much easier!
Frequently Asked Questions
Now that we’ve gone over the basics of how to manifest a glow-up, I want to answer some frequently asked questions that I get about this topic.
How long does it take to manifest a glow-up?
It can take a few weeks to a few months to manifest a glow-up, depending on what you want to change and how focused you are.
At what age do glow-ups happen?
Glow-ups can happen at any age! I’ve seen people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and even 60s who have manifested a glow-up.
Is it too late to glow up?
No, it’s never too late to glow-up. Anything is possible, no matter how old you are. Just approach it with positive energy and you will achieve it in perfect time.
How can I manifest a glow-up faster?
You can manifest a glow-up faster by being crystal clear about your intentions and also planning your roadmap to the things you want to do to create lasting change. If you want to manifest weight loss, look into different things you can try and plan to add more and more each week. If you want to manifest beauty, think about the different areas you want to change (skin, hair, makeup, etc…), and write down small things you can do to gradually improve.
Can everyone have a glow up?
Yes! Everyone can glow-up; it’s just a matter of whether or not they’re willing to do the mental, emotional and physical work to get there.
What if I don’t know what my glow-up is?
If you’re not sure what your glow-up is, that’s okay! Just tap into how you want to feel. If you want to feel more confident, for example, start with that feeling and work from there. Consider what types of experiences would make you feel more confident, then work to manifest more of those experiences.
And that’s everything you need to know about how to manifest a glow-up!
Remember, it’s all about making a decision to change, getting clear on your intentions, and taking consistent action towards your goals.
If you can do those things, a glow-up is inevitable!
